Terms and Conditions
These are the terms and conditions of the Hunt Bike Wheels wheelset hire service offered by Academy Bikeworks Ltd. You will be expected to sign a copy of these terms and conditions prior to the start of the hire period and you will be given a copy of these terms and conditions as part of the hire.
Terms Used - The following terms are referred to and used throughout the course of these Terms and Conditions. Hunt Bike Wheels — The manufacturer of the wheelset - hereinafter referred to as ‘Hunt’.
Hunt 36/50 Carbon wheelset — The primary product available to hire through Academy Bikeworks - hereinafter referred to as ‘the wheelset / demo wheels’.
Accessories — The additional accessories to facilitate the hire of the wheelset, an itinerary of which is provided in Section 4 - hereinafter referred to as ‘accessories’.
Yourself — the individual hiring the wheelset - hereinafter referred to as you/ the customer.
Academy Bikeworks Ltd - the company supplying the wheelset for hire - hereinafter refereed to as we / us / ourselves).
Deposit — The sum of £100 (one hundred British pounds) paid by you to us for the Hire Service - hereinafter referred to as ‘deposit’.
Hire Service — The service provided by us to you when hiring the wheelset. This includes the removal of your wheels from your bike, the inspection of your bike prior to the start of the Hire Period, fitting the wheelset to your bike at the start of the Hire Period, the removal of the wheelset from your bike at the end of the Hire Period and the installation of your original wheelset to your bike.
Hire Period — The 7 (seven) day period which your deposit entitles you access to the wheelset and accessories for use on your bike only.
EPOS - Electronic Point of Sale system used by us to store data and process sales.
Contract - By reading these Terms and Conditions and signing a copy at the start of your Hire Period you are acknowledging and agreeing to the Terms and Conditions contained within this document.
Identification and Data Privacy - In order to hire the Hunt 36/50 Carbon wheelset and appropriate accessories (hereinafter referred to as ‘accessories’) you will need to supply at least two forms of identification (at least one must be a valid form of photo identification, such as a driving license or passport) that confirm your name, address and DOB. You must also provide a valid credit or debit card. You will also need to provide a contact telephone number and a valid email address.
We will take a digital copy of your ID and your card details (including card number, expiry date and security number) and store the documents on our secure cloud based EPOS system during the course of your hire period.
Your details will not be shared with or sold to any third parties, unless we are required to do so by law (in the event of a non return of the wheelset, for example). No physical copies of your ID will be made at any point. Once you have returned the wheelset and accessories to us in a condition that is deemed suitable by us we will remove all digital copies of your ID from our EPOS system.
Itinerary of Items Included in Hire - The wheelset and accessories that you will hire will include a Hunt 36/50 carbon wheelset with Hunt quick release skewers, 2 (two) x Vittoria Corsa Control 700x25c tyres, 2 (two) x Continental road inner tubes and two pairs of carbon specific brake pads. You are expected to return the wheelset and all accessories to us within 7 (seven) days of the date the hire deposit is paid.
Deposit - A non-refundable deposit of £100 (one hundred British pounds) will need to be paid by you in store before the start of the Hire Period. This deposit covers the cost of hiring the wheelset for 7 (seven) days.
In the event that following the completion of your Hire Period you wish to purchase a set of Hunt carbon wheels from us (within three months of the start date of your Hire Period) we will deduct £100 (one hundred British pounds) from the retail price of the Hunt carbon wheels that you purchase.
In the event that following the completion of your Hire Period you decide not to purchase a set of Hunt carbon wheels you will not receive a refund for the Hire Period.
Hire Service - Installation and Setup - As part of the service we provide, prior to the start of the Hire Period you will need you to bring your bike in. Before fitting the wheelset and accessories to your bike, we will first check your bike over and make sure it is mechanically sound, advising you of any issues we find during the inspection we make.
Once we are satisfied that your bike is mechanically sound we will install the wheelset on your bike. This will include removing your wheels from your bike, removing your cassette and any spacers from your wheels, removing your tyres and inner tubes from removing your brake pads, **** CONTINUE *****. Any remedial work or parts fitted by us to your bike outside of that covered by the Hire Service will be chargeable.
Photograph - Once we have fitted the wheelset and accessories to your bike we will then take a photo of your bike at our workshop. If you are happy for us to do so, we will then share the photo of your bike on our social media channels and website. If you are not happy for us to share the photo we will upload it to our EPOS system as part of the documentation we store
Storage - During the Hire Period we will store your original wheels, tyres and inner tubes at our premises. We will install your original wheelset to your bike upon the end of your hire period and the return of our wheelset.
Hire Period - The hire period is a 7 (seven) day period, starting from the date that you collect the wheelset and pay for the deposit payment. You are allowed to return the wheelset before that date.
Returning the wheels after 7 (seven) days from the date of collection may result in a ‘Late Return’ fee. Please refer to Section 14 for more details on any ‘Late Return’ fees.
Returning the wheels to us in a condition that means they are no longer suitable for hire will result in a fee. Please refer to Section 15 for details on ‘Damaged Condition’ fees.
Hire Service - Return of Wheels and Installation of Your Wheelset - When you return the wheelset to us at the end of your Hire Period we will inspect the wheelset and accessories and ensure that they are in a condition that means they can be re-used for the Hire Service again. Should we find any damage to the wheelset or accessories that we determine to be outside of general wear and tear you may be liable to pay damaged goods fees. See Section 16 - Returning the Wheelset in a Damaged Condition for more details about the ‘Damaged Condition’ fees.
Purchasing Wheels Following the Hire Period - Following the Hire Period if you wish to purchase a set of Hunt carbon wheels within 3 months of the start date of your Hire Period we will facilitate that sale for you and you will need to liaise with us directly in order to benefit from the £100 (one hundred British pounds) discount we offer as part of the Hire Service. The £100 (one hundred British pounds) discount offered by us can only be applied to Hunt wheels purchased from us by you, and will not be transferred to any other customer, wheel brand, product or service.
Please note that Hunt are not involved with the demo/hire service offered by us in any way. In the event that you purchase the wheels directly from the Hunt Bike Wheels website Hunt will not honour any discount following the Hire Period that we offer, and int he event that you purchase the wheels from Hunt from their website we will not refund you the £100 deposit. (one hundred British pounds).
You are not permitted to buy the demo wheelset that you have hired from us. This is because any warranty we have on the wheels would not be extended to you. We are aware that often there is limited stock of Hunt carbon wheels and this may lead to a delay between the end of your Hire Period and the purchase of your own Hunt carbon wheels.
Ownership and Property Rights - During the any hire period Academy Bikeworks Ltd remain the legal owners of the wheelset and accessories, and you acknowledge that the wheelset and accessories remain the property of Academy Bikeworks Ltd during your hire period.
At no point during the course of the hire period do you own the wheelset, they are on loan to you as part of the Hire Service that you have agreed to; and as a result you are not permitted to loan, gift, sub-hire or sell the wheelset during the hire period. You are not permitted to remove, modify or alter the accessories fitted to the wheelset. You are not permitted to remove the wheelset from the bike that we have fitted them to.
You are permitted to take photos of the wheelset and accessories on your bike and share them on your social media profiles. We ask that whenever you do so to please ensure that any social profiles utilised by us are tagged in the images you share.
Your Responsibilities - During the Hire Period, it is your responsibility to ensure that the wheelset are protected against damage and theft at all times. We accept that general wear and tear will occur on ‘consumable’ components such as carbon brake pads and tyres/inner tubes. However, it is your responsibility to notify us if you have to replace an inner tube or replace the carbon compatible brake pads.
It is you responsibility to ensure that the quick release skewers and carbon rims are not accidentally or deliberately damaged during your Hire Period. It is your responsibility to immediately report any damage that you have caused to the wheelset, quick release skewers or accessories.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the wheelset is used in accordance with it’s design (road use only), to ensure that the tyre pressures are set within correct tolerances on each ride, and to ensure that the wheelset are being used correctly.
In the event that the wheelset is stolen from your home or while you are out on a ride it is your responsibility to notify both us and the police immediately, and it is your responsibility to supply us with the crime incident number given to you by the police.
Late Return - As specified in Sections 4 and 5 of these Terms and Conditions the Hire Period is for 7 (seven) days only. In the event that you can not return the wheelset to us within 7 (seven) days you must contact us immediately to notify us of any potential delay in returning the wheelset to us and the reasons behind the delay.
In the event that you return the wheelset to us after the 7 (seven) day hire period you may be liable for Late Return fees. The Late Return fee is £50 (fifty British pounds) per day for every additional day that the wheelset and accessories are not returned to us.
If the wheelset has not been returned to us after 21 (twenty-one) days of the start of your Hire Period and in the event that we have not received notification from yourself as to when you plan to return the wheelset (or in the event that you are late returning the wheelset and you have specified a date and failed to return the wheelset on that date) we will treat the situation as a Non Return and deal with it as referred to in Section 15 - Non Return.
Non Return - In the event that we deem that you have no intention to return the wheelset to us (through a lack of contact via email/telephone) and in the event that you have not returned the wheelset to us within 21 (twenty-one) days of the start of your Hire Period we will charge your credit/debit card for the remaining retail value of the wheelset and accessories, valued at £877.96 (eight hundred and seventy-seven British pounds and ninety-six pence).
In the event that we are unable to successfully charge your credit or debit card for the amount specified we will report the wheelset and accessories to the police as stolen goods. We will pass on all of the information you have supplied to us to the police as part of their investigation.
We may also pass on your contact details to a debt collection agency if we are unable to retrieve the wheelset and accessories or the sum specified. In doing so this may affect your ability to later obtain credit.
Returning the Wheelset in a Damaged Condition - We anticipate that the wheelset may be returned to ourselves with general wear and tear on the perishable components and accessories, including wear to the tyres, inner tubes and brake pads. The wheelset may also need a wheel true following your Hire Period to ensure that they are serviceable for use in our Hire Service. However, if the wheels are returned to us by you in a condition that means they are no longer suitable for use in our Hire Service, and the damage is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, then you will be liable for ‘Damaged Condition’ fees. The ‘Damaged Condition fee’ would be determined at the time of the assessment and can range from -£50 to £500 - depending on the damage.
