The Salt Sportive - Sunday May 5th 2019

We’ve been made aware that there is a new sportive coming to Worcestershire next year. The Salt Sportive, which will take riders around the countryside of Worcestershire, is available in two routes of 50km and 100km.

Both routes have been designed to take riders down quiet country lanes offering beautiful views. The 50km route is an ideal opportunity for new cyclists to sink their teeth into their first local sportive, while the 100km route is a more challenging route designed with keen cyclists in mind. The 100km route also includes some of the local challenging climbs, predominantly those found in the Clent Hills.

Riders can enter online via the British Cycling website and for their entry fee (£15 for 50km with online entry and £20 for 100km with online entry - entries are available on the day but are slightly higher in prices) entrants can expect the following:

  • GPX files for mapping

  • Feed stations (planned at 20 miles and 44 miles)

  • Marshalls at key points on the route

  • First aid support throughout

  • Spot Prizes for randomly selected finishers

  • And of course, the coveted Finishers Medal!

There will also be plenty going on at the Event HQ for those who just want to come along to support the event. Our understanding is that the Event HQ will be Chawson First School, but you may wish to confirm with the event organiser.

The sportive is designed to be a fundraising event, and the funds raised will go to Chawson First School Association (CFSA) and the school’s Parent/Teacher Association's (PTA).

The CFSA is made up of both parents and teachers, who plan and run events for the local and wider community to raise additional funds for the benefit of the school and children.
