Find New Local Riding Routes with Two Events in Droitwich This May

Salt Sportive Flyer.jpg

We have noticed a rise in local community run cycling events this year, particularly in Droitwich. This May, there are two new cycling events that you may want to add to your calendar.

If you’re looking for inspiration for new challenges, be sure to check in regularly with our Rides in 2019 page! Here we post as many rides as we can, both locally and a bit further afield. This list includes reliability rides, sportives, audaxes, charity rides, local cycling events and more!

We keep this up to date based on events we find online and also feedback we get from customers so if you’re doing an event that you don’t see on our calendar, let us know so we can add the details and encourage more local riders to engage!

But for now, let’s look at the two rides that are close to home happening this May!

Sunday 5th May - The Salt Sportive

We previously posted a blog post about the The Salt Sportive back in October. This event, with 50km and 100km route options (31 miles and 62 miles respectively) taking riders around the Clent Hills, is one for experienced riders.

Although this is the first year that the Salt Sportive is being held, it certainly promises to be a great event, with demo bikes, kids bike skills area, feed stations and finishing medals on offer.

The ticket price is exceptionally reasonable, at £15 for the 50km and £20 for the 100km - AND - all profits raised will go to Chawson First School - so this is a great opportunity to ride local roads, learn new routes and help raise funds for a local school.

Sunday 19th May - Help 4 Heroes Cycling Event

If cycling, ice cream and fundraising is your thing then the Help 4 Heroes cycling event might be the one for you!

This event has 30 mile and 50 mile routes available, predominantly on quiet countryside lanes. Starting at Churchfields Farmhouse Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour.

Just like the Salt Sportive this is a new event, only this ride aims to raise funds for Help for Heroes. The short route is on reasonably flat terrain with one or two inclines to tackle, whilst the longer route is a little more challenging but not so difficult that those new to riding should be dissuaded!.

Online entries are charged at £21.50 plus £1.00 admin with entries on the day £26.50 (cash only for on the day entries) and are subject to available spaces (Only 250 spaces available for this event).

There will be food stops and a broom wagon. The route will be sign posted and GPX files are available.
